A Pakistani YouTuber was reportedly shot dead by a security guard whom he was interviewing as part of his vlog for the T20 World Cup 2024 match between India and Pakistan. According to reports, the incident occurred in a mobile market in Karachi on Sunday. Pakistani media identified the YouTuber as Saad Ahmed, who was filming content related to the India vs Pakistan match at Nassau County Stadium in New York.
Saad Ahmed was taking video interviews of several shopkeepers in the market before approaching a security guard for his opinion. The guard, however, was reluctant to be filmed and asked Saad not to insist. Despite the guard’s protests, Saad continued to press for an interview, leading to the guard losing his temper and fatally shooting the YouTuber.
Reports indicate that Saad was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival, as per ARY news. A friend of Saad mentioned that he was the sole breadwinner for his family and had spoken to him just before he went to cover the match build-up.
CCTV footage from the area showed Saad interacting with the guard before the shooting occurred. The guard has reportedly been arrested by the police. In a statement posted on Instagram, the guard said, “He kept on bringing the mic close to my face and filming. I lost my temper and fired at him.”
Pakistan lost the match to India by 6 runs on Sunday and now faces potential elimination from the T20 World Cup 2024.
