ISLAMABAD: Investigative scrutiny of assets belonging to key Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) figures has revealed contrasting patterns of wealth changes since the 2017-2018 period. Details drawn from election nomination papers, Federal Board of Revenue records, NAB references, and court documents highlight varying degrees of asset growth, declarations, and ongoing probes for Usman Buzdar, Imran Khan, Farah Gogi (Farhat Shahzadi), Zulfi Bukhari, and Aleema Khan.
Usman Buzdar Five years ago, former Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar’s total assets stood at a modest Rs 762,000 (approximately Rs 0.8 million) as per 2018 election nomination papers. Recent declarations in 2024 nomination papers showed assets valued at Rs 5.5 billion, with the current market value of his holdings (including extensive land) estimated around Rs 4 billion. Overall assets encompassing real estate, gold, vehicles, and livestock now reach approximately Rs 35 million. Over the last three years alone, he acquired 45 kanals of land, expanding to a portfolio of 3,900 kanals, 15 plots, high-value vehicles worth about Rs 20 million, and substantial bank balance growth. Specific acquisitions include 1,698 kanals in Khaniwal at Rs 13,000 per kanal, plus plots in DG Khan and Taunsa Sharif. His 2018 holdings included 95 kanals in Mauza Amdani, a 36 marla plot, and an 8 marla house in Greenview Multan. Between 2019 and 2021, he added 163 kanals in areas like Mauza Choti and Mouza Barathi. Buzdar’s brother, Jafar Khan Buzdar, has stated that all family assets were acquired legitimately. He noted that NAB is probing the entire family and that Usman was unaware of certain ancestral properties discovered after their father’s passing, with distribution ongoing.

Imran Khan PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan declared net assets worth Rs 38.694 million in his 2018 election nomination papers, including properties like Bani Gala (valued at around Rs 11.47 million plus additional land) and 168 acres of agricultural land. He reported no vehicles or businesses, with 2017 income of about Rs 4.78 million and taxes paid accordingly. Most properties were listed as inherited. By 2023 (per nomination papers and FBR certificate), his assets had risen to over Rs 315.95 million — an increase of approximately Rs 277 million over five years. Intermediate figures showed Rs 141 million in 2021 and around Rs 320 million in 2022. Court documents in related cases have referenced additional properties (such as a London flat), though Khan’s legal team argued it was not required in certain declarations. No evidence of billionaire-level transformation appears in public records; changes primarily reflect valuation adjustments and inherited holdings amid multiple NAB and Toshakhana-related cases.
Farah Gogi (Farhat Shahzadi) Farah Gogi, a close associate of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi (often described as a front person in probes), showed dramatic asset growth. From 2017 to 2020, her declared and undeclared assets surged by Rs 4.52 billion — a 420% increase during the PTI government tenure. She admitted to Rs 950 million in assets in 2020, with reports citing undeclared holdings worth Rs 3.82 billion and bank balances exceeding Rs 14 billion in some disclosures. NAB and FIA have initiated probes into assets beyond known sources of income, money laundering, and her alleged role in the Al-Qadir Trust (where land transfers were linked to her). She faces a money-laundering case, potential Interpol red notice, and a fresh 2026 FIR over government land sales in Gujranwala. Gogi is reportedly living abroad; she has sent legal notices disputing some allegations.
Zulfi Bukhari Authentic assets disclosure (2020 – official government release during PTI tenure when he served as Special Assistant to PM on Overseas Pakistanis):
When the federal government publicly disclosed assets of PM’s special assistants/advisers in July 2020, Zulfi Bukhari’s net assets were listed at over Rs 2 billion. This included: • UK properties (a flat, furniture & paintings) worth £5.28 million (approx. Rs 1 billion at the time). • Bank accounts & cash: Rs 357 million. • Business capital: Rs 482 million. • Four luxury vehicles in the UK (worth over £578,000 / Rs 121 million) plus one Toyota Land Cruiser in Pakistan. • Four gifted/inherited properties in Pakistan.
A second contemporaneous report aligned closely, citing London property around £4.85–5.28 million range. Later NAB references (2024-2025) also mention 1,300 kanals (or 1,210–1,300 kanals) of land in Attock district associated with him, part of which was ordered confiscated/seized along with 30-kanal and 4-kanal plots in Islamabad.
NAB / court actions (post-2020): In the £190 million corruption reference (Al-Qadir Trust linked), an accountability court declared him a proclaimed offender, ordered forfeiture of properties, and NAB auctioned 800+ kanals of his agricultural land in Attock (2025). He has denied wrongdoing; cases remain sub-judice.
Aleema Khan (Imran Khan’s sister)
Authentic facts (2018 Supreme Court / FBR investigation): In 2018, during the Supreme Court’s suo motu review of politically exposed persons with undeclared UAE/Dubai properties, Aleema Khan (Imran Khan’s sister) was identified by FBR as the benamidar/owner of one flat (“The Lofts East-1406” in Dubai). She had purchased it in 2008 for USD 370,000 (approx. Rs 74 million at the time of scrutiny) and sold it in 2017.
She did not avail the tax amnesty scheme. Instead, she voluntarily declared the asset, paid 25% tax + 25% penalty (half the estimated value upfront), and the Supreme Court ordered her to deposit a total of Rs 29.4 million in taxes and fines (December 2018). The case was closed after compliance; no confiscation occurred.
Rumors / political claims: Opposition leaders and media at the time alleged she owned “multiple flats” or far higher-value properties (some unverified claims circulated around $7 million total). However, no official FBR or court record from the 2018 probe supports multiple Dubai flats or a $7 million valuation – the verified figure remained one flat purchased for USD 370,000. No comprehensive updated public asset declaration list for Aleema Khan has been released since (as she has not contested elections). Separate mentions exist of a four-storey building in New Jersey (US) in some reports, but it was never part of the 2018 SC/FBR case.

These cases continue under NAB and court oversight, with some figures citing political motivations while authorities emphasise accountability for unexplained wealth. Family members and legal teams for several have stressed legitimate inheritance, ancestral distributions, or disputes over declarations.
